MOGADISHU (Adduun) – Somalia’s government said on Wednesday that 19 Al-Shabaab militants were killed in an airstrike conducted by its international partners near the town of Run Nirgood in the Middle Shabelle region.

In a statement, the government stressed that one of the air raids targeted an area where militants had gathered while the other struck an “extortion checkpoint.”

The Somali government has not given further details and did not say if there were civilian casualties. Somali government has not named the international partner that carried out the operation.

There has been no independent confirmation of the claim due to the remote nature of the area where strike occurred.
