Jubaland repatriates dozens of SNA soldiers captured in Raskamboni battle to Mogadishu

MOGADISHU (Adduun) – Jubaland authorities have repatriated the second group of dozens of Somali government soldiers, who were captured during recent hostilities in Raskamboni, to the capital Mogadishu aboard an aircraft, Caasimada Online news website reported on Sunday.

The regional authorities said the repatriation of Somali army personnel, who had been “misdirected” by the federal government and deployed to Raskamboni, back to the capital Mogadishu, in an event attended by the Commander of the 43rd Division of the Somali Army.

Jubaland authorities recently announced the capture of dozens of government troops, taken as prisoners of war following intense, day-long clashes in Raskamboni, a strategic town on Somalia’s southern border with Kenya, where the troops had been deployed to lay the groundwork for an attempt to oust Jubaland President Ahmed Madobe.

Hundreds of Somali security personnel, who fled Raskamboni after being routed by Jubaland forces, surrendered to Kenyan border guards at the Kenya-Somalia border and are slated for repatriation to Mogadishu.
